Simulations
Simulations to engage, enable and practice:
The Cabdab Project
This simulation requires a group of 4 to 8 to use their team skills as they work through a 30-minute problem-solving task. Cabdabs is an effective warm-up to an actual improvement project or a good way to practice the team skills of information sharing, listening, developing alternatives, consensus decision-making and conflict management.
Moving the Machine
The task for a team of 4-8 is to move a one foot square machine through a 1.5 inch doorway as quickly as possible. Successful teams use their creativity and team skills to dramatically improve their process.
The Application Maze
This one hour simulation requires a group of 6-9 to apply the principles of Lean production to an administrative process. As a result of the team's improvement efforts, they see how cycle times, productivity, quality and service can all be dramatically improved when waste and variability are removed.
The Paper Factory
This extensive simulation of an administrative workflow is designed to introduce 2-5 office teams to the principles of Lean production over the course of one day. Ideal for engineering, order entry, customer service and other teams that work with ideas and data, this simulation engages participants in learning the fundamentals of Lean production.
The Airplane Factory
This extensive simulation of a manufacturing workflow is designed to introduce 2-5 shop floor teams to the principles of Lean production over the course of one day. Ideal for production, quality control, purchasing, material handling, scheduling, supervision and others involved in discrete manufacturing, this simulation engages participants in learning the fundamentals of Lean production.
